Matter
Anything that has mass and occupies space.

Element
A chemical substance that cannot be broken down.

Periodic Table
The accepted method of organising the elements.

pH Scale
The accepted methd of ranking the aciditity of a chemical.

Acidic
A basic chemical that is soluble in water. (i.e. Carbonate, Hydroxide)

Alkaline
A chemical with a low count of h+ ions.

Basic
A chemical with a high count of H+ ions.

Compound
A combination of two or more elements that cannot be seperated by simple physical means.

Atom
The smallest state at which an element is recognisable.

Proton
Fundamental Positive Subatomic Particle. 1 AMU (Atomic Mass Unit)

Neutron
Fundamental Neutral Subatomic Particle. ~1+ AMU

Electron
Fundamental Negative Subatomic Particle. 1/1836 AMU

Mass Number
The number of nucleons (Protons and Neutrons) in an atom.

Mass
The quantification of matter. Chemical Property.

Isotope
Atoms with the same number of protons and a different number of neutrons.

Covalent Bond
A bond formed between two atoms by "sharing" an electron.

Ionic Bond
A bond formed between two atoms by "stealing" an electron.

Cohesion
Intermollecular attraction of like molecules.

Surface Tension
Attraction between the surface molecules of certain liquids that cause the surface of the liquid to form an "elastic sheet"
